Hub for Hope

Hub for Hope is a free counselling program offered by the Dóchas Resilience Foundation for individuals, couples, and families who face financial barriers to accessing mental health support.

Is Hub for Hope Right for Me?

Hub for Hope is for individuals (aged 10+), couples, and families who are experiencing financial barriers that make it difficult or impossible to afford counselling.

Hub for Hope is intended for people seeking non-urgent counselling support. It may not be appropriate for people who need crisis services, intensive treatment, or a higher level of care.

If Hub for Hope is not the right fit, we will do our best to help you identify other options or resources.

What You Can Expect

Clients accepted into Hub for Hope can access up to 10 free counselling sessions. Counselling is personalized to your needs and may include support with stress, emotions, relationships, coping, life changes, and other mental health concerns.

Clients are matched with an available practicum intern based on program availability and fit.

Who Provides the Counselling?

Counselling is provided by unpaid master’s-level practicum interns completing their graduate level training. Interns receive ongoing clinical supervision from qualified mental health professionals to support safe, ethical, and high-quality care.

Where Are Services Offered?

Hub for Hope counselling is available in person at Dóchas Psychological Services in Spruce Grove and virtually throughout Alberta.

Dóchas Psychological Services provides office space and other in-kind support to the Dóchas Resilience Foundation. Hub for Hope is operated by the Dóchas Resilience Foundation, and counselling services are delivered through the Foundation.

How It Works

After you apply, our team will complete an intake and clinical screening to learn more about your needs and determine whether Hub for Hope is an appropriate fit.

If you are accepted into the program, you will be matched with an available practicum intern. Because Hub for Hope is a free program, clients are not able to select a specific practitioner.

If there is no immediate availability, you may be placed on a waitlist until an appropriate space becomes available.

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please go to your nearest hospital emergency room, call 988, or call the Canadian Mental Health Association Distress Line at 780-482-4357.

If cost has made it difficult for you to access counselling, our Hub for Hope program may be the right fit for you.
