Hi, I’m Rachael.

Growing up, I always wanted to save the world and help others, so it makes sense that I eventually became a psychologist.

Throughout university and the beginning of my career, it became increasingly clear to me that cost, limited insurance coverage, and gaps in available services prevent many people from accessing the mental health support they need. Combining that awareness with my desire to help others, creating the Dóchas Resilience Foundation was a no-brainer.

In my role with the Foundation, I oversee program development, clinical services, community partnerships, and the practicum program. Through this program, we support the training and supervision of master’s-level practicum interns who provide free and low-cost counselling within our communities. This model allows us to increase access to mental health services while emerging professionals develop their clinical skills and professional judgment under my supervision.

I believe mental health support should be accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of each person and community.

By supporting people who might otherwise fall into the gaps between existing services, we can create meaningful change with lasting effects across our communities. Through the Dóchas Resilience Foundation, I hope to develop sustainable programs that reduce barriers to care while building stronger connections among mental health professionals, community organizations, and the people they serve.
